About Dr. O'Connor

I’m Michael O’Connor, PT, DPT a Doctor of Physical Therapy with over 25 years of experience working on some of the toughest cases in the Washington, DC region. Today, I help people from around the world, and have become known as the "Second Opinion Specialist for Failed Physical Therapy".
I have spent my entire career in private practice, which I started the day after graduating PT school in the late 1990's. This allowed me to dedicate the time to deliver the highest level of expertise care. I’ve seen thousands of patients—and as a leader and mentor to many new graduate PT's, I’ve seen firsthand why many people don’t improve in traditional care. This online physical therapy consultation is designed to fix that!
As I began my career, my specialty evolved in Manual Therapy (hands on) care and problem-solving some of the most challenging Orthopedic issues. For over two decades, I have helped patients identify the real cause of persistent Orthopedic pain when traditional treatments did not provide answers. Based on my outcomes, I became the Therapist that other PT's began referring to, and I gained the respect of referring Orthopedic Surgeons, Family Physicians, and medical practitioners from a variety of backgrounds.
My specific expertise includes:
- Complex Orthopedic injury and diagnosis
- Movement and Biomechanical analysis
- Chronic Musculoskeletal pain conditions
- Sport-related injuries and mobility limitations (particularly golf)
I am also certified through the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) which specializes in golf performance and injury prevention.

STEP 1 - Book Your Session with Me
Use the button below to schedule your online physical therapy consultation. You'll receive a Zoom link for our online meeting. Before our meeting, fill out a simple History form and email me your Diagnostic reports.
STEP 2 - Review of your Injury History
During our session, we will carefully review your situation and clarify any questions about the history you provided.
STEP 3 - Movement Assessment
We'll complete a movement screening to identify biomechanical restrictions, compensation patterns, postural concerns, and more.
STEP 4 - Root Cause Analysis
I will share my findings, we will discuss the most likely causes of your symptoms and why previous treatments have not resolved the problem.
STEP 5 - Your Personalized Recovery Strategy
Most important, your virtual PT second opinion provides:
